EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Building Blocks, formerly 4C of Southern Indiana, is the most recent organization to receive funds from Golf Gives Back, the nonprofit board of directors that oversees the sales, operations, and charitable aspects of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance. A donation of $50,000 from Golf Gives Back was matched by the Welborn Baptist Foundation, for a total of $100,000 donated to Building Blocks during a check presentation ceremony on April 5.

Building Blocks is a nonprofit serving 28 counties in southern Indiana that began as a true grassroots organization with a few local childcare directors and preschool teachers. In 2003, the state of Indiana selected Building Blocks as the regional Child Care Resource and Referral agency for southern Indiana.

“Today we’re continuing our funding on a unique program administered by Building Blocks providing high-quality pre-K education to lower income children,” said Jack Pate, chairman of Golf Gives Back. “The board chose this pre-K initiative because of the measurable outcomes and our strong belief in the core mission that Building Blocks has that every child deserves the opportunity to develop into a healthy and contributing citizen.”

Along with the contribution to Building Blocks, Golf Gives Back gave several other donations during the check presentation ceremony. As a service provider to Building Blocks, Easterseals received $1,000 on behalf of Andy Goebel for a Brighter Community. Team Rubicon was awarded $16,240 through the GAF Birdies for Charity Program. Youth Resources was given $4,000, and Trail Life USA received $5,000. Overall, through the past 10 years of Korn Ferry Tour Championships, more than $2 million has been donated to charities in the Evansville region.

“One of the reasons the board has endorsed [Building Blocks], and certainly one of the reasons I have been involved in it and our company has been passionate about it, is because of the impact it has over a long period of time,” said Ron Romain, CEO of United Companies. “We can’t solve this in one fell swoop. We always look for ways to try and incrementally make early childhood education in our community better.”
